Freshpaint has five written reviews on the main business-software review sites, and four of them were posted in 2022 or 2023. Here is each one, dated and linked, followed by what people have posted about Freshpaint on forums since 2023 and, in a section of their own, the customer stories Freshpaint publishes about itself. Redacted, which compiled this page, sells a competing product.
Prepared by Redacted, which makes an alternative to Freshpaint and Ours Privacy priced for early-stage founders and healthcare practices.
Fact-checked October 2026.
Five reviews are too few to show a pattern, so read each one as a single account. The three on G2(opens in a new tab) date from late 2022 and May 2023, two of them carry G2's incentivized label, and none is from a healthcare organization.
Reviewers credit Freshpaint(opens in a new tab) with HIPAA compliance and setup that needs no code. The complaints include a slow start for beginners, users it couldn't identify, and price.
The forum record is newer and larger. We found at least 55 Reddit(opens in a new tab) posts since 2023 that discuss Freshpaint as a marketing tool; five come from people who use it or have clients who do, and the two from 2026 are current users who both call it pricey. If you run a small practice, start with what people say about the price. If you market a health system or a health plan, Freshpaint's own customer stories describe organizations closer to yours than the reviewers are.
Already a customer? None of the reviews or forum posts we found is by someone who left Freshpaint, so they give no reason on their own to switch (what your contract says).

G2's own page says "There are not enough reviews of Freshpaint for G2 to provide buying insight."(opens in a new tab) The G2 reviews were written while Freshpaint's pricing page still offered a free plan for up to 1,000 monthly users, which its archived copies show from 2020 to October 2023(opens in a new tab). The current pricing page(opens in a new tab) has none.
The newest is the Capterra review, posted in January 2025 by a senior vice president of engineering in hospital and health care, at an organization of 51 to 200 people. Capterra shows it at 4.0 out of 5 (review(opens in a new tab)).
The TrustRadius review, from November 2023, describes using Freshpaint to set up product events and follow retention across groups of users. It credits Freshpaint's live view of which events already exist and its real-time event tagging. Its complaint, in the same November 2023 review, is that "sometimes users are not identified"(opens in a new tab) and it "can take a fair amount of time to figure out why freshpaint can't 'see' them"(opens in a new tab).
The newest G2 review, from May 2023, is by a consultant and marked incentivized. The reviewer liked setup without complex coding, and wrote in May 2023 that "Freshpaint is HIPAA compliant which is great as privacy is what everyone should respect"(opens in a new tab). On price, the May 2023 review says "Although there is rarely anything wrong with the service but I think the pricing is somewhere they could do more."(opens in a new tab) It adds, in the same May 2023 review, that Freshpaint's customized plans make up for it.
A December 2022 G2 review, by a science educator and also marked incentivized, found that "The layout is simple"(opens in a new tab) and that creating events is easy. Its one complaint, in December 2022: "Lack of tutorial for beginners to use the site."(opens in a new tab)
The earliest, from November 2022, is the one G2 review marked organic. Its author said Freshpaint surfaced things they hadn't thought to look for, and wrote in November 2022 that "It took some time to learn how to read the data but that is normal with new software I suppose"(opens in a new tab).
In two Reddit archives, PullPush(opens in a new tab) and Arctic Shift(opens in a new tab), we found at least 55 posts and comments by 39 accounts that discuss Freshpaint as a marketing or analytics tool, from January 2023 through October 2026, and 4 comments in Hacker News(opens in a new tab)'s search. The count was made on October 29, 2026.
Five of the Reddit posts come from people who use Freshpaint or work with clients who do. An agency wrote in October 2023, "I work with a few healthcare clients that use them."(opens in a new tab) A user wrote in December 2024, "I do use them"(opens in a new tab), about a service that "will sign a BAA and only pass through non-PHI, which ostensibly allow you to optimize"(opens in a new tab). In May 2026 a user of its server-side conversion API wrote, "It can be pricey, but can make sense at a certain scale and risk profile."(opens in a new tab) In June 2026, in a thread about Medicare ads, another current user wrote, "These can be pricey, but that's the whole point. I'm currently using Freshpaint."(opens in a new tab)
One post describes a setup problem. In April 2024 a customer whose custom GA4 events weren't registering wrote, "Freshpaint has told me this process works for their other clients and they can't really tell me why it's not working for mine."(opens in a new tab)
The largest group, 24 posts, recommends or names Freshpaint without the writer saying they use it, such as an August 2026 reply from a marketer who runs ads for clients, which suggested "something like FreshPaint which is a hipaa compliant tracking and analytics platform"(opens in a new tab). Six posts point readers to another product or service instead, five of them the writer's own. One agency wrote in November 2025, "Our clients were getting priced out of FreshPaint"(opens in a new tab), and went on to describe its own service.
The newest thread is a buyer comparing Freshpaint with Ours Privacy(opens in a new tab), who wrote on October 7, 2026 that "They are very similar"(opens in a new tab) and that they had heard "mixed reviews around the audience features for each"(opens in a new tab). By October 27, 2026, nobody who uses either product had answered.
On Hacker News, a commenter wrote in April 2024, "This is why we need Freshpaint (YC S19) for analytics and other services for healthcare companies."(opens in a new tab) On the same day in April 2024, another commenter quoted Freshpaint's website copy about ad trackers and wrote "I'm sure they are good folks, but what an absurd premise."(opens in a new tab)
The G2 reviewer in May 2023 wrote that "the pricing is somewhere they could do more"(opens in a new tab), and that customized plans make up for it.
The two current users quoted above call it pricey and say the price can be justified. Reddit posts from people weighing Freshpaint, and from those advising them, lean the other way. A marketer wrote in November 2023, "But they also charge a decent amount of money for using them."(opens in a new tab) An agency owner wrote in January 2024 that tools like it were affordable for enterprise clients "but not for the individual medical practices that just want to run Google Ads and know how their site is doing."(opens in a new tab) In March 2025 a buyer running a small healthcare organization posted the $35,000 a year figure from their Freshpaint demo, plan and volume not stated, five times in 48 minutes, once as "Freshpaint is $35k which is a lot for a pre-launch medical service."(opens in a new tab) A consultant replied in the buyer's thread the same day that the price was too high for a small practice(opens in a new tab), and by August 2025 was recommending "platforms like Freshpaint that sign BAAs and filter PHI data before sending to Meta"(opens in a new tab). In September 2025 a commenter sorting server-side tracking options put Freshpaint among enterprise tools that are "usually far more expensive, but they’re tried and tested solutions"(opens in a new tab). In October 2026 the buyer comparing it with Ours Privacy wrote that "neither contract is cheap"(opens in a new tab).
Freshpaint doesn't publish a price, and every plan on its pricing page says "Talk to Sales"(opens in a new tab). Vendr(opens in a new tab), which tracks what companies pay for software, puts the median of five Freshpaint purchases at $35,000 a year, in a range of $27,800 to $50,220, on a page dated 2025 that doesn't show plans or volumes. The "from $599/mo"(opens in a new tab) that SaaSpartout(opens in a new tab), a software marketplace, lists for Freshpaint, with its data marked as verified in July 2026, appears on none of the archived copies of Freshpaint's pricing page we found, from 2020 to 2026.
Redacted, which prepared this page, publishes its prices: $99, $199 or $299 a month for up to 1,000, 2,000 or 10,000 monthly tracked users, month to month, with the BAA included. It connects fewer tools than Freshpaint and has no SOC 2 report, and Vendr's figures don't state plans or volumes, so the two don't compare like for like.
This section is Freshpaint's material, kept apart from the reviews above: case studies and testimonials that Freshpaint writes and publishes, with results it reports itself. Its customers page(opens in a new tab) lists 11 of them, from health systems, physician and specialty groups, health plans, urgent care, dental care and digital health.
| Customer, as Freshpaint's story describes it | What Freshpaint's story reports |
|---|---|
Allergy Partners(opens in a new tab), an allergy specialty group | Cost per lead from $300 to $12. Its marketing head is quoted: "No specialty clinic can sustain itself at $300 per lead."(opens in a new tab) |
OrthoCarolina(opens in a new tab), an orthopedic group | An 80% drop in cost per lead, after a stretch with ads switched off: "We were dark for about three and a half months"(opens in a new tab) |
Columbus Regional Health(opens in a new tab), a health system | |
Baptist Health(opens in a new tab), a health system | Better control over trackers, attribution to appointments and faster executive reporting |
CU Medicine(opens in a new tab), a physician group | Four milestones within weeks of starting, after it had pulled its pixels and lost sight of its advertising |
BU Dental(opens in a new tab), a dental school's clinics and group practice | Cost per implant conversion from about $13 to about $9; Freshpaint's headline is a 30% lower cost per acquisition |
Vybe Urgent Care(opens in a new tab), urgent care | |
Osmind(opens in a new tab), a digital health company | |
A national health insurer, unnamed (story(opens in a new tab)) | 53% better attribution on Meta against its previous cost per acquisition, and an 85% improvement in Google Search cost per acquisition with Freshpaint's attribution, against its earlier attribution alone |
A regional payer, unnamed (story(opens in a new tab)) | Cost per lead down 40% |
An urgent care provider, unnamed (story(opens in a new tab)) | Ad costs down between 9% and 27.5% across four regional tests |
On October 27, 2026, the first Google result for a search on Freshpaint reviews was FeaturedCustomers(opens in a new tab), shown with 4.8 stars. Its Freshpaint page holds 23 testimonials, 10 case studies and 9 customer videos, and the ones it shows match Freshpaint's own stories, such as the regional payer case study. Glassdoor(opens in a new tab) also ranks for that search; its Freshpaint reviews are by employees, about working there.
The one switching story we found is an unnamed testimonial on Ours Privacy's Freshpaint comparison page(opens in a new tab), credited to a "Leading weight loss platform"(opens in a new tab): "We switched from Freshpaint because Ours offered better pricing, implementation help, and ongoing support."(opens in a new tab) It is Ours Privacy's marketing.
If you're weighing a move, start with your order form. Freshpaint's Terms(opens in a new tab) set these defaults "Unless otherwise set forth in the applicable Order Form"(opens in a new tab): the subscription renews for the same length unless you give written notice at least 30 days before it ends, there is no termination for convenience, and fees are non-refundable. To keep your data, ask for it in writing within five business days of the end, and Freshpaint provides a free final extract within 30 business days (§8.4).
The reviews give no product reason to leave a setup that works for you. If cost is the reason, time the move to your renewal date; Freshpaint alternatives sets out the options with their price evidence.
Some teams do. The common build sends your tags through server-side Google Tag Manager on a server you control, which removes names, contact details, IP addresses and health information before anything reaches Google or Meta. You also need a BAA with whoever hosts that server: Google's covers the Google Cloud products it lists(opens in a new tab), and Tag Manager isn't on the list. Practitioners disagree on how far that gets you. An analytics agency wrote in January 2024, "Looks like GTM server can do what Freshpaint does from glancing over their site."(opens in a new tab) In the same January 2024 thread, another agency said moving server-side and anonymizing IP addresses "wasn't enough for the lawyers"(opens in a new tab) at a large client. A commenter in a web design forum wrote in May 2026 that vendors like Freshpaint help with this, "Or a decent front end developer can set it up natively."(opens in a new tab) Freshpaint sells the work as a service and signs the BAA.
Freshpaint was founded in 2019, went through Y Combinator(opens in a new tab)'s Summer 2019 batch, and says it is "Trusted by 300+ healthcare organizations"(opens in a new tab). Its FAQ(opens in a new tab) says it "offers a Business Associate Agreement (BAA)"(opens in a new tab), and its trust center(opens in a new tab) shows a SOC 2 Type II report on the Security criterion for February 2025 through January 2026. Whether your own tracking is compliant also depends on how you set it up, which is a question for your counsel. Both reviewers who mention HIPAA, on G2 in May 2023 and Capterra in January 2025, count it among Freshpaint's strengths.
They come from FeaturedCustomers, which collects testimonials and case studies; the ones on its Freshpaint page match Freshpaint's own. Its 4.8 is a "Review Score based on 1430 reference ratings"(opens in a new tab), and the page asks visitors to rate each item. The written reviews are the five on this page: 4.5 out of 5 from three on G2, 4.0 from one on Capterra, and 6.3 out of 10 on TrustRadius from three ratings.
Freshpaint doesn't publish a price; every plan on its pricing page says "Talk to Sales"(opens in a new tab). Vendr's 2025 page puts the median of five Freshpaint purchases at $35,000 a year, plans and volumes not shown (Vendr(opens in a new tab)), and in March 2025 a buyer running a small healthcare organization reported $35,000 a year from one demo, plan and volume not stated. Other published figures, with their sources, are in what people say about the price.
You sign an order form for a term set in that form. By default it renews for the same length unless you give written notice at least 30 days before it ends, and it allows no termination for convenience (Terms(opens in a new tab) §8). Freshpaint counts monthly tracked users, and if you go over your contracted number for two consecutive months it may charge overage for the rest of the term (§4.2); it may also raise fees at renewal (§4.1). Your order form can change any of these.
Freshpaint's partner program lists "over 50+ agency partners"(opens in a new tab) offering marketing, analytics and development services. An agency on Reddit wrote in October 2023 that it works with healthcare clients who use Freshpaint, and the May 2023 G2 reviewer is a consultant. Ask on the demo how access works across several client accounts, since Freshpaint's documentation needs a customer login.
An agency owner wrote in January 2024 that tools like it are affordable for enterprise clients "but not for the individual medical practices that just want to run Google Ads and know how their site is doing."(opens in a new tab) Freshpaint's entry plan, Comply, includes Google, Meta and GA4 integrations, consent management, web analytics and standard onboarding, with no published price (pricing(opens in a new tab)). Its case studies feature health systems, health plans and multi-location groups. Freshpaint alternatives compares the options for a small practice.
Freshpaint's integrations catalog lists Epic MyChart and Clockwise under Scheduling (integrations(opens in a new tab)). For any other booking tool, ask on the demo.
Through a call-tracking tool. Freshpaint's catalog lists CallRail and CallTrackingMetrics among its call-tracking integrations, and doesn't say which plan includes them (integrations(opens in a new tab)).
Yes. GA4 is one of the integrations in Comply, Freshpaint's entry plan (pricing(opens in a new tab)).

We read Freshpaint's pricing page, terms, FAQ, customers page and case studies, and the other price sources cited, on October 29, 2026, logged out, on US sites; Freshpaint's trust center as saved on October 27; and its earlier pricing pages in Wayback Machine(opens in a new tab) copies from 2020 to 2026. G2, Capterra, GetApp, Software Advice and TrustRadius block our reader, so their counts, dates, reviewer details and quotes come from their search listings and from our earlier reads of those pages between August and October 2026. We read Product Hunt, PeerSpot, SaaSKart and Elion directly on October 29, and SourceForge, Slashdot and Trustpilot on October 27. Forum posts come from searches of two Reddit archives, PullPush, which covers all of Reddit to about October 9, 2026, and Arctic Shift, for chosen threads and subreddits to October 29, and of Hacker News, from January 2023 on. We searched them for the single word Freshpaint, so a post that spells it as two words appears only where our earlier research found it. We left out job ads, press reposts, posts by Freshpaint staff and partners, promotional spam and companies' standalone promotional posts, sorted the rest into the table's groups ourselves, and give forum dates in UTC. A post those archives missed is missing here too. The Google result described is a US desktop search on October 27, 2026. Each fact links to its source.
